This session will explore the role of Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin-sensitive (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA), in skin and soft tissue infections. Students will learn about the pathogenesis, types of SSTIs caused by Staphylococcus (such as impetigo, folliculitis, cellulitis, abscesses, and necrotizing infections), diagnostic approaches, and treatment strategies. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing clinical patterns, antibiotic resistance issues, and the implications of delayed or inappropriate therapy. This will help students understand the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate management in preventing complications and limiting transmission.
